21 Reasons Counselling

21 Reasons Counselling supports people on their journey to be comfortable within themselves. Whether it be for anxiety, stress, relationship issues, weight loss, a healthier relationship with yourself, making sense of your world or any of your own 21 reasons. Counselling uses the principles of Person Centred Counselling, which takes the view that the person is the expert on themselves and that with support and unconditional positive regard, a person has within themself, all they need to make the changes to their life that they want to make. As many of the things that people want to change often comes down to changing behaviour, aspects of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Motivational Interviewing are also used. 21 Reasons Weight Loss Therapy is a new approach to explore and resolve the reasons why people fail to do the thing they really want to do. Losing weight is often more complicated than just eating less or exercising more. Often there are underlying reasons that keep a person stuck in a revolving pattern of weight loss failure. Counselling can help. As the counsellor at 21 Reasons Counselling, I have a Bachelor of Alcohol and Drug Studies, a Post Grad Certificate in Motivating Behaviour Change and over 16 years’ experience as an Addiction Counsellor and as a Lecturer on the Bachelor of Addiction Programme with WelTec. My experience in helping people to stop addictive behaviours has been invaluable as a counsellor today, as essentially the principles and strategies of behaviour change, that are used in addiction recovery can be successfully applied any situation where people want to change the way they live their life. Another aspect of what 21 Reasons Counselling offers, is psychological support for women diagnosed with the Fat Disorder; Lipoedema. As this is a little understood and under diagnosed disease, many women who have continued to gain weight, even though they are often eating healthily, are often devastated to realise it is not their fault, and that they have a progressive disease. When diagnosed, psychological support to cope with the effect of having a disease that will relentlessly cause weight gain, can be essential to achieving an emotional equilibrium.
